Decluttering Your Mind
A cluttered mind is as bad as, if not more, a cluttered home. It is sometimes said that a cluttered home is a physical representation of a persons state of mind. Having a cluttered mind means you would largely be unable to concentrate or get things done when they are due. There are ways to declutter the mind and, in turn, boost your mental health and productivity.
1. Let go of the past
The past usually is the root cause of mental clutter. Not the past per se but the inability to let it go. Constant pondering of the past and the resurfacing of painful events is unhelpful as it makes moving forward difficult.
Learn from and immediately do away with memories of failures, missed chances and mistakes made. You must understand that no matter how much time you spend on old thoughts, you cannot go back in time to change anything. What happened has happened.
2. Sift the information you are taking in
The internet contains information of the vastest degree. This means that as a user and surfer of the net, you must sift through all the information you are taking in. The sifting is for useless information, fake information and uninformed or mistaken information. This is especially so when you are surfing for educational purposes. You must be deliberate with your searches and let go of what you deem unnecessary. Do not clog up your mind.
3. Prioritize
A cluttered mind is an unorganized mind. Missing deadlines or absolutely forgetting about certain tasks will be unavoidable. To combat this, create a to-do list that you can tick off as you
complete each chore or task.
This will also help you prioritize tasks and efficiently manage your time.
It will also act as a guide and reminder to things that need to be done.
4 Reflect on what's bothering you
While you should not stay in the past, it is unwise
to neglect the things that are bothering you. When you feel overwhelmed
pause and take a breather to reflect on those things that are troubling you.
Identify these things and draw up a plan for finding an answer or solution to each.
5 Mediate
Meditation is one of my most preferred ways to declutter the mind. There are numerous ways to meditate and you can
pick the one which suits you the most.In addition to meditation,
you may adopt other relaxation techniques such as yoga
and bubble baths.
Try as much as you can to unclutter your mind to have a simpler day to day life.
Follow the above tips or any prefferred method of your own to help keep an
open and focused mind.Your mental health is as important as your physical health
and should be treated with more care.
